About me
Hola! I’m Sarah (pronounced SAAH-dah). I’m a Gen XYer, and a second-generation immigrant of Colombian and Salvadoran descent, born and raised in Houston, Texas. Y soy bilingüe.
When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy the challenge of DIY projects, from woodworking, installing electrical in my house, to tinkering with my car. I’m a gym rat, and a meditator who enjoys sitting outside communing with birds and the squirrels.
I live with my loving life partner of many years and our adult son, where we have cultivated a super chill, drama-free household by challenging the status quo of our dysfunctional families. We have healed together to build the mutually respectful relationships we have always wanted and deserved.
My Experience
In my past life, I spent about 20 years working with patients in the dental field, so I’m not afraid of pain, blood or tears! My top priority was making scared patients feel as safe and as comfortable as possible in the chair. After dental hygiene school, I transitioned into higher education and worked as a dental educator and a program director. I taught students how to work with patients’ physical pain, where my goal was to breakdown complex subjects to promote healing.
Thanks to my students, who sought me often for one-on-one support, I was inspired to launch my second career as a therapist. In graduate school, I interned at an intensive outpatient program treating adults recovering from trauma and addiction. At the center, I facilitated meditation, individual and group therapy.
These days working for a private practice, I continue helping adults struggling with anxiety, unresolved trauma related to: inadequate parenting, childhood abuse and neglect, narcissistic abuse, codependency, being an adult child of an alcoholic family, family estrangement, sexual assault, surviving a suicide/sudden death, work/life balance for professionals and entrepreneurs, and couples exploring consensual non-monogamy.
I have had the honor of serving a diverse group of people in this space including: LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Latinx, undocumented immigrants, and the polyamorous/kink community.
